Music festivals are hard work: there are massive queues for everything, you end up walking miles and miles, the available camp-sites resemble refugee camps and weather conditions tend to oscillate between torrential rain and unbearably hot temperatures. Coachella – a music festival that has transformed the American concert industry over the last ten years – is an example of the latter, as it takes place in the south Californian desert of the same name.

But, what about combining a top music festival experience with luxury holiday facilities? This seems to be the idea behind the S.S. Coachella, a cruise with which festival goers can enjoy Coachella lineup without earth’s core temperatures and dusty surroundings.

Goldenvoice, the concert promoter of the Californian festival, has announced it will introduce the S.S. Coachella in December. The cruise will have two itineraries starting in Fort Lauderdale Port, Florida.

The three-day and four-day cruises will visit the Caribbean paradise destinations of Bahamas and Jamaica respectively, with departures from Fort Lauderdale on December 16 and 19.

So forget about B-listers performing in tuxedo – cruise live music takes off to unknown levels of excellence with Coachella. The festival lineup includes world-class acts such as Pulp, Girl Talk, Sleigh Bells, Hot Chip and LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy.

Why not book a luxury holiday to Fort Lauderdale with Kenwood Travel and cap off your trip with one of these cruises?
