Walt Disney World Presents MyMagic+
In fairness, Walt Disney Parks have always provided a thrilling experience to its visitors. Nevertheless, there is no possible comparison between the rudimentary attractions and services of 1955 to today’s theme parks with concepts such as MyMagic+.
The same happens with the Walt Disney Resorts, where technology helps guests to make the most of their stay and visits to the iconic parks.
“Over the past few years, we’ve continued to build on our legacy of innovation to take the entire Disney Guest experience to a new level.” Said Tom Staggs, chairman at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
“Our goal is to deliver a more immersive, more seamless and more personal experience to each and every guest who spend time with us,” he added.
The MyMagic+ concept is a clear example of what this holistic approach is all about. Using Radio-frequency identification technology, the system keeps all the guests’ information – park tickets, dining reservations, hotel room key, etc. – on a bracelet called MagicBand. Additionally, the FastPass+ allows park visitors to schedule times to enter their favorite attractions.
Another recent innovation is the interactive queueing system at Walt Disney World attractions such us Haunted Mansion, Under the Sea, Dumbo the Flying elephant and Test Track. With it, park goers can start to live out the experience even before they set foot in the attraction, since they have air-conditioned spaces equipped with theme children playgrounds. They don’t feel like they are waiting in line, but rather experiencing the attraction in advance.
MyMagic+, or the MagicBand as the physical representation of the concept, doesn’t store personal data. On the other hand, MyMagic+ is completely optional and visitors may choose to not participate on it.
Like every other concept developed by Disney, MyMagic+ will evolve according to customer and staff feedback. Additional apps and features will be introduced over time.
