ULTRA Music Festival in Miami: Line up revealed

On January 15, 2012 by Nelson Fernandez

It’s hard to imagine a better line-up than that the one unveiled by ULTRA for its 2012 edition. Looking at the impressive list of names that will perform at Miami’s electronic music festival next March, one can only agree.

Although the festival attracts a massive audience – 150,000 in attendance in 2011 – the acts are not only chosen to please the crowd. Instead, there are really exciting avant garde projects and the festival features a wide spectrum of styles, from dub-step to Detroit techno, proto-electronica or chillwave.

I wouldn’t go crazy about seeing Fatboy Slim playing his cynically stadium-filling tunes, but I’d highly recommend checking out people like M83, responsible for one of the best albums of 2011 Hurry up, we’re dreaming.

UK bass scenes will be also well represented in Miami with dubstep mavericks Skream and Magnetic Man, and bands like Little Dragon and Neon Indian will make hipsters happy.

Kraftwerk, the fathers of electronica will be also there, so be prepared to listen to classics like The model while doing silly robotic dance movements. Talking about classics, we also have New Order. OK, I know that Peter Hook doesn’t play with them anymore, but who knows if he will be back for that gig?
